The Outrigger Guam Resort was the scene of a tragic deadly incident involving a 22-month-old girl on Saturday. The girl died Sunday morning at 2:12 am in the intensive care unit of Guam Memorial Hospital.
According to local media information, the toddler died at a beach in the vicinity of the Outrigger Guam Resort following a drowning incident.
ETN reached out to the manager on duty at the Outrigger Hotel. Strangely, the hotel manager was unable to confirm or deny the girl was registered as a guest. He said: “I am unable to confirm any incident at this time and have no comments.”
This response leaves speculation as to whether or not the incident may have involved a family on vacation in Guam. It could indicate the hotel may be worried about a liability claim, since this incident allegedly happened at the beach in front of the resort.
Two other unrelated deadly drowning incidents were recorded on the northern shore in the waters of Ritidian on the island of Guam. Guam is located in the Southwestern Pacific Ocean. Besides the military, tourism is the second most important industry in this US territory.
Guam enjoys good air links and is a hub for United Airlines. The island is a popular tropical tourist destination for visitors, many from Japan, Korea, Russia, and China.
Meanwhile in Guam, tragedy was averted farther south as a swimmer was rescued in a near-drowning incident at USO Beach. When medics arrived to the Piti Beach, CPR had already performed on the man, and he was conscious and responsive.
