INDIA (eTN) – The United States expects to see a healthy growth in tourist arrivals from India. Brand USA has a strong presence at the ongoing SATTE travel show in New Delhi, India. The USA pavilion was inaugurated on January 29 by Richard Verma, the US Ambassador to India, who is of Indian origin, and took over the post recently.

He noted that the USA visa process has been eased and more tourism and business will grow after the visit of US President Barack Obama to India. From January to October 2014, as many as 844,670 Indian visitors went to the US, which was 11.6 percent higher than in the same period in 2013.

The Ambassador said that the US had many attractions for the Indian leisure and business market. Similar views were expressed by the Brand USA team at the show and by Sheema Vohra of Sartha, who represents Brand USA in India.

Regular visits by attractions and destinations within the USA to Indian cities has increased awareness and interest in the people, and the visit of President Obama has further boosted this sentiment.

Brand USA has put up an impressive show at the travel event and has hosted a networking reception dinner for the Indian travel fraternity at the Oberoi Hotel New Delhi on January 29, which was attended by a galaxy of trade leaders.

For Verma, the opening of the USA stall was one of the first activities after he took over and handled the visit of the President.

More and more Indians are now going to different places and attractions in the USA, not confining their travels to only the traditional places.
