ETurboNews (eTN) has long been a supporter of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT), and we are pleased to be a media partner for its upcoming IIPT World Symposium event scheduled to be held from February 15-20, 2015, at Emperors Palace, Ekurhuleni, adjacent to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Said eTN publisher Juergen T. Steinmetz: โThis is IIPTโs seventeenth international event and seventh global summit since its founding in 1986, the UN International Year of Peace. The design of the symposium is highly interactive with international experts in community development, community tourism, sports, culture, and peace engaging with delegates in the exchange of experiences and ideas. With eTurboNewsโ global subscriber base of 230,000 and the potential reach of 1.3 million, including 17,000 journalists, our publications are the perfect media distribution network for the IIPT World Symposium.โ
Important in these times, Ministers of Tourism from countries who have experienced conflict will share their insights and suggestions related to strategies for reconciliation and healing wounds, as well as implementing best practices in harnessing tourism, culture, and sports in the post-conflict socio-economic re-development process. The symposium will seek to launch creative initiatives that contribute to these aims.
โIIPT is most grateful for the enthusiasm and support being provided by eTurboNews as a media partner,โ said IIPT Founder and President Louis D’Amore. โWe look forward to a strong participation of tourism professionals from regions throughout the world taking part in the symposium, and we appreciate eTN helping us to promote and report on our event through this partnership.โ
This yearโs symposium will honor the legacies of the worldโs three great champions of peace and non-violent resistance: Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr. with the aim of affirming these legacies by building bridges of tourism, friendship, and peace in regions throughout the world. The symposium is endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the African Union, 20 years of South African democracy, and the 50th anniversary of civil rights legislation in the US.
