TURKEY (eTN) – The latest statistics show that Turkey received over 40 million tourists during 2014. In response to Turkeyโ€™s tourism demand, and open invitation has been extended for buyers, trade visitors, and suppliers to meet on January 21, 2015 at Eresin Crown Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey, for the โ€œTurkey Incoming – Outgoing Travel & Tourism Networking Workshop.โ€

Turkey, known as the oldest human settlement in the world, is the location of Catalhoyuk dating to 6500 BC, and is also the location of the worldโ€™s first landscape painting that was found on the wall of a Catalhoyuk house, illustrating the volcanic eruption of nearby Hasandag.

Turkeyโ€™s history also includes the first coins ever minted which were produced at Sardis, the capital of the ancient kingdom of Lydia in Turkey, at the end of the seventh century BC. Two of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the Mausoleum at Halicamassus in Bodrum, are located in Turkey. Anatolia, the Asian portion of Turkey, is the birthplace of many historic figures and legends, such as the poet Homer, King Midas, Herodotus (the father of history), and St. Paul the Apostle.

As a bridge between the East and the West, and with a legacy of trade that dates back to the Silk Road, Turkey is exceptionally well positioned as a place to do business. Itโ€™s also an exceptionally rich mosaic of culture, from celebrated cities of antiquity to little-known pastoral villages, from Ottoman mosque complexes to Byzantine basilicas.

With a strong economy, Turkey is also considered to be one of the countries that has the biggest number of outgoing tourists, with over 14 million Turkish tourists visiting all parts of the world. Popular destinations for Turkish citizens taking holidays abroad are well-known cities of the Middle East, Europe, and the USA. A growing number of Turkish people have also taken an interest in the Asia-Pacific region and other fa-away destinations.

Turkish people are open to new ideas and are flexible in decision making. Fashionable products are also tempting for them. They are particularly interested in city culture and sightseeing as well as shopping. There is also a large number of citizens traveling every year for pilgrimage visits.
