TOKYO, Japan – Japan Post Co. and a Chinese travel agency are starting a service for Chinese tourists that will deliver items purchased from a dedicated e-store directly to their hotels and wherever they are staying in Japan.
The service will assist Chinese travelers who would be inconvenienced by lugging their purchases around with them during their visit, Japan Post said Jan. 13.
The Japanese postal agency said Shanghai-based Ctrip, which operates a travel website that handles reservations and other travel related services in China, will open an online store that sells Japanese souvenirs on Jan. 15.
According to Japan Post, after a Chinese customer places an order at the website before or during their visit to Japan, the purchases will be sent via Yu-pack, the parcel delivery service run by Japan Post, to the address where they are staying.
