Local reports in Zambia are saying that Fastjet Zambia has successfully completed Phase 1 of its application for an Air Operating Certificate from the Zambian Civil Aviation Authority.

โ€œThe process to obtain permission to operate in Zambia is proceeding extremely well,โ€ Ed Winter, Interim Chairman and CEO of Fastjet, told reporters. โ€œWe have an excellent team in Zambia, who are working positively with the local authorities to complete the approval process as efficiently as possible.โ€

If granted landing rights, Zambia will be fastjet’s second base where it will operate low-cost flights to various destinations in East and Southern Africa.

Whatโ€™s expected to follow in the process entails Zambian authoritiesโ€™ evaluation of Fastjet Zambia’s company structure and examination of its Airbus aircraft.
