SWISS is set to increase its network out of northern England with the addition of a two weekly direct flights from Manchester to Geneva from December 14. The new scheduled route takes SWISS’s number of weekly flights out of Manchester to 26. In addition, SWISS will begin operating its Manchester to Zurich route on Airbus A319s beginning October 26, offering larger seats and a 24 percent increased capacity over its current Fokker-operated service.

The new direct route to Geneva will be operated by an Avro RJ100 and is set to operate until March 28, 2009. Flights operate on Saturdays and Sundays as follows:

Saturdays

Out: Manchester (leaving 17:25) to Geneva (arriving 19:25)

Return: Geneva (leaving 14:35) to Manchester (arriving 16:45)

Sundays

Out: Manchester (leaving 10:45) to Geneva (arriving 12:45)

Return: Geneva (leaving 07:55) to Manchester (arriving 10:05)

As well as offering a direct connection to the city of Geneva itself and all its winter offerings, the new service will afford travelers access to a range of acclaimed ski resorts in the nearby area such as Les Gets, Morzine, Megeve, Chatel, Avoriaz, Chamonix, Villars and Verbier.

Gregor Koncilja, country sales manager UK and Ireland at SWISS, said, “We are delighted to be offering this additional connection between the UK and Switzerland, which demonstrates our commitment to both tourism in the Lake Geneva area and to our customers in northern England, north Wales and Scotland. Leisure travelers looking for a ski holiday or extended city break can now escape conveniently and directly to Geneva, while enjoying the services of a top-quality airline and the associated benefits of free baggage allowance, complimentary transportation of skis, food and beverage and, of course, Swiss hospitality from the moment they board the flight.

“We will also be offering a business class service for those who wish to travel out of Manchester in style and enjoy the benefits of our elegant business class lounge in Geneva,” he concluded.
