The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has scheduled the grand opening celebration of the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign for 14 January, 2015, with a range of spectacular events including a colourful parade and extravagant performances to be held in the heart of Bangkok.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik said, “We would like to invite all tourists and tourism industry stakeholders as well as members of the public to take part in the range of extravagant celebrations marking the launch of the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign. We have scheduled a host of events that are specially designed to showcase “Thainess”, or the distinct character of the Thai people and our unique culture.”

The grand opening celebration of the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign is scheduled to take place on 14 January, from 18.00 hrs. in front of the Siam Discovery Centre. Among the various activities, at 17.00 hrs. the spectacular parade will start from the National Stadium at the Pathumwan Intersection and wind its colourful way along Rama I Road to the Ratchaprasong Intersection before turning into Ratchadamri Road and conclude at Lumpini Park.

The “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign incorporates the current Thai government’s 12 national core values, among which are the promotion and preservation of Thai traditions and culture. The aim is to showcase the hospitable character of the Thai people and the many cultural assets of Thailand that make it a unique tourist destination.

The grand opening celebration of the “2015 Discover Thainess” campaign is to be held in conjunction with the Thailand Tourism Festival 2015 that will take place during 14-18 January, 2015, at Lumpini Park.

The international arrivals in 2015 is expected to rise by 13 percent to 28 million and revenue from foreign visitors by 16 percent to 1.35 trillion Baht.
