LOS ANGELES, California -The Grand Hotel Cannes has a proud history as one of the first luxury hotels in Cannes, France.

LOS ANGELES, California -The Grand Hotel Cannes has a proud history as one of the first luxury hotels in Cannes, France. The original property was built in 1863 and exactly 100 years later was completely rebuilt with its contemporary architectural style that is still iconic today.

As one of the founding hospitality businesses in this world famous holiday playground, Grand Hotel Cannes takes great responsibility to apply an everyday policy of sustainable operations and management to all its activities.

Commenting on the hotel’s recent Green Globe certification, Sustainable Development Manager, Victor Basquin said, “Being Green Globe certified is not just a reward, it’s a considerable pride for all of our teams. Through the engagement of all staff, including our General Manager Mr. Hugues Raybaud, we have brought our establishment into a new era of sustainability and responsibility.

“We had to sometimes be creative to find the best solution combining luxury services and environmental care. We have saved more than 6000 m3 of water since the beginning of our step forward into sustainability, and 30 megawatts of energy in the last 6 months with our efficiency re-lamping program,” added Mr. Basquin.

Between 2012 and 2013, Hotel Grand Cannes employed a number of water saving initiatives that dramatically reduced water consumption by 61%. Currently the hotel operates a Sustainable Development Management Plan with a core focus to deliver a 5% saving in both energy and water use over the next five years.

The plan also includes a large number of actions to meet not only environmental targets, but to also contribute to social engagement and cultural development. The Hotel is a supporter of the French National Heritage Foundation and the Prince Albert II Foundation as well international charities including Children of the Mekong, ChildFund International among others.
