The President of the Republic of Seychelles has announced the composition of the National Environmental Advisory Council, set up in accordance with Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act.

The President of the Republic of Seychelles has announced the composition of the National Environmental Advisory Council, set up in accordance with Section 5 of the Environment Protection Act.

The Council will be chaired by Dr. Nirmal J Shah. Its other members will be Mr. Antoine Marie-Moustache, Dr. Jude Bijoux, Mr. Victorin Laboudallon, Dr. Frauke Dogley, Mr. Andrew Jean-Louis, and Mr. Freddy Karkaria.

The setting of this Council had been announced by the President at the November meeting of the National Consultative Forum.

The functions of the Council will be (a) to consider matters affecting the quality of the environment; (b) to advise government on the state of the environment and make recommendations regarding actions and measures for environment protection and for improving the quality of the environment; and (c) to consider any other matter that may be referred to it by government.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) .
