LOS ANGELES, California – Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa is located in the tropical Samui archipelago on the northeast coast of Koh Phangan (Phangan Island) in Thailand. The resortโ€™s suites and villas, tucked discreetly amidst towering coconut palms, are set on pristine white sand facing sparkling blue tropical waters.

The island resort ensures that sustainable tourism operations are achieved by adhering to Green Globe standards that integrate social and ecological responsibility into its core business operations.

Markus Krebs, General Manager of Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa said, โ€œAnantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa is thrilled once again to receive Green Globe Re-Certification. It is rewarding to know our efforts have been officially recognized, as we are very proud of our commitment to ongoing sustainability, efficient energy and water usage, and respect to our environment and local community.โ€

Anantara Rasanada Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa reduces their energy consumption by at least 10% annually in accordance with Anantara Group requirements. The installation of energy efficient equipment and lighting around the resort and the policy of switching off lights, computers and other electron devices when not in use contribute to reductions in overall energy consumption.

Low flow showers and toilets plus water saving aerators fitted on taps assist with reducing water usage. And guests and staff are educated on the importance of water conservation on the island through simple initiatives such as turning off taps when brushing teeth. Minimal water is used for cleaning purposes for the same reason.

The resort aims to minimize the impact business and tourism activities have on the environment by reducing, reusing and recycling solid waste through a local waste management company. Organic kitchen waste is used in composting, and products purchased by the resort must be durable, repairable and recyclable.

Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa is actively engaged in supporting the local community through initiatives such as Anantaraโ€™s 365 Days of Good Deeds, where associates give back to the environment and community. Some examples include funds raised and donated to the Camillian Home for Orphans, participation in Earth Hour, monthly beach cleaning days year round, Minor Founderโ€™s Day initiatives in aid of Thai children and English language training for local Thai government organizations to improve communication skills.

Furthermore, as part of the Roy E. Heinecke Foundation supported by the Anantara Group worldwide, the resort sponsors individual local students who have excelled at school by buying books, pencils and school equipment to help further their education. In return, students are asked to support projects in the community. Since 2000, the foundation has sponsored thousands of children, many of whom have gone on to graduate with professional degrees.
