India today launched the much-awaited tourist visa on arrival, enabled with electronic travel authorization, which is expected to ease travel formalities and has been a demand of the industry.

India today launched the much-awaited tourist visa on arrival, enabled with electronic travel authorization, which is expected to ease travel formalities and has been a demand of the industry.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who along with Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma, launched the scheme on November 27. He said that his ministry will ensure the safety and security of foreign tourists.

Mahesh Sharma said that the implementation of the scheme showed that the government was serious about promoting tourism.

The scheme is being implemented at nine international airports and is applicable for tourists coming from 43 countries.
