The Plaza de España is hosting the 27th edition of the Madrid Arts and Crafts Fair, which has over the years become an important exhibition of artisan gift items and a major showcase for regional arts and crafts. And tourists love that it’s free!

A total of 170 artisan workshops are taking part in the fair, the majority from the region of Madrid, although there are also representatives from other regions of Spain, displaying their handmade items for sale. The participants include representatives from a wide variety of artisan trades such as ceramicists, potters, costume jewelers, leather goods makers, engravers, precious metal jewelers, as well as silversmiths, fabric decorators, hatters, toymakers, and artistic glassmakers, among others.

This exciting event runs from December 13, 2014 to January 5, 2015 at the Plaza de Espana in the tourist area of Sol, Gran Via on Mondays through Sundays from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm, except on December 24 and 31, when the hours will be from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The event will be closed on December 25, 2014 and January 1, 2015.

Tourists may reach the Plaza de Espana on the L2, L3, and L10 Metro, and Bus #s: 1, 2, 3, 35, 39, 44, 46, 74, 75, 133, 138, 148, C1, C2, M2, and SE730.
