INDIA (eTN) – In a major technological development for the booming Indian hospitality industry, reflecting international cooperation as well, the Lemon Tree Premier up-scale hotel in the sensitive Aerocity hospitality district, near the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, has deployed the NEC’s world leading face recognition technology.

This is the first time that this technology is being used by an Indian hotel, which will no doubt boost guestsโ€™ confidence level and enhance security and safety, in which the Lemon Tree has already invested a lot.

The media was shown the benefits of the new device on November 20.

The highlight of the solution is that it intelligently matches faces appearing on the hotel surveillance cameras to a database list of potential security threats and, significantly, the solution can be utilized for whitelist management, offering customized service to VIP guests at the hotel simply by recognizing their faces.

Asked about the investment made in the technology, Lemon Tree President and Executive Director of the Lemon Tree Hotel Company, Rahul Pandit, quipped, โ€œWe could have built a small hotel with that amount.โ€

Koichiro Koide, Managing Director, NEC India, said: โ€œWe are excited to bring the cutting-edge NEC face recognition technology to the hospitality sector in India through Lemon Tree hotels. We have spent 30 years to bring in the level advancement seen in this technology, which has been globally recognized for its performance and accuracy.โ€

Rahul Pandit said, โ€œWe are proud to be the first in bringing the world number biometric technology to the hospitality sector in India.โ€

Lemon Tree has 26 hotels in 15 cities with state-of-art security arrangements.
