AUSTIN, TX – Finally, we have the answers to several age-old holiday questions:

No, most people (80 percent) do not like fruitcake.

No, most people (51 percent) do not like eggnog.

No, most people (62 percent) don’t want to go out on New Year’s Eve, although five percent say it’s a fun excuse to kiss people other than their significant other.

Yes, most people (73 percent) re-gift during the holidays, that is, they pass along to others gifts that were given to them. Bottles of wine, gift cards and candles are re-gifted most.

These are among the findings of a fun, new national survey of holiday party proclivities commissioned by The Salonniere, from interviews with top party hosts, caterers and florists to recipes and hostess gift ideas. The survey of 1,115 men and women nationwide, ages 25-54 with annual household incomes in excess of $50,000, was conducted for The Salonniere by an independent national research firm.

Asked who they would most like to kiss under the mistletoe this year, most women surveyed chose George Clooney while the majority of men selected Scarlett Johansson.

Speaking of kissing, there appears to be a surprising amount of it going on at office parties. Twenty percent of those queried said they’ve kissed or had a sexual encounter of some kind with a boss or co-worker at an office party, while 36 percent admitted to flirting with a boss, coworker or a coworker’s significant other. Perhaps it’s not surprising that 28 percent of respondents admitted to drinking too much at an office party.
