Louis D’Amore, the President of the International Institute for Peace Through Tourism (IIPT) used the Seychelles Tourism Minister as an example as he addressed a tourism conference in Colombia. In his closing remarks at the conference, Louis D’Amore used a slide entitled “How this Tourism Minister Changed the World” with a picture of Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and a poster of the island’s annual Carnaval International de Victoria.

Mr. Louis D’Amore said as he presented the closing slide that he was challenging the respective country delegations at the conference to use their creativity to re-boot their own tourism industry.

Seychelles is known to have been an example to many tourism destinations for being innovative, and this ever since Alain St.Ange took the helm of these islands’ tourism ministry. He has been personally involved in ensuring that the Seychelles remains visible and relevant as a tourism destination. He is now regularly seen on the list of influential tourism leaders addressing forums around the world and has been described by Anita Mendiratta of CNN TASK as punching well above his weight and by a Chinese publication as being a marketing guru.
