The 1st Otumfuo Opoku Ware II Memorial Golf Tournament
Golden Beach Hotels promotes leisure and golf in Ghana
The management of Golden Beach Hotels, parent company of La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, Elmina Beach Resort in Elmina near Cape Coast and Busua Beach Resort as part of its policy of promoting leisure, culture and sports in Ghana, is sponsoring a golf tournament dubbed "the 1st Otumfuo Opoku Ware II memorial golf tournament" on September 27, 2008 in Kumasi. The tournament, which is the second to be sponsored by the company, will see over one hundred golfers comprising both professional and non-professional golfers from all over the country competing for prizes.
This tournament is in honor of the immediate past Asantehene (King of the Asante Kingdom) who reigned for twenty-six (26) years till he embarked on his ancestral journey in 1996. In 2005 the company sponsored a similar tournament in honor of the current Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Apart from supporting leisure and sports, management of Golden Beach Hotels deems it necessary to promote the Ghanaian traditional cultural values through the chieftaincy institution, which is in line with the motto of the company: Uniquely Golden, Traditionally Ghanaian.
