World Travel Market, the leading global event for the travel industry, has linked up with US-based VPiX to produce an interactive 360-degree tour of the UK and Ireland region which will be used to drive engagement between visitors and exhibitors after the event.

VPiX has worked with resorts, hotels, nightclubs and estate agents in the past, and this is the first time its technology has been used in an events context.

A 360-degree image of the UK and Ireland region will be posted onto www.wtmlondon.com web site after this year’s event closes on Thursday 6 November. Icons will be superimposed onto the participating stand. Visitors to the site then click on that icon and are connected to the exhibitor’s page within the Exhibitor Directory channel on the WTM web site.

Contact details, brochure imagery and marketing materials such as embedded video and web content can be hosted on the exhibitor’s page and shared with virtual visitors.

It will help further maintain the relationship between exhibitors, buyers and visitors throughout the year.

World Travel Market Senior Director Simon Press: “We are very excited about this groundbreaking initiative which is not only a first for the events industry but also confirms that WTM is constantly looking at ways to improve engagement with visitors and to drive business for our exhibitors.

“Providing an exceptional virtual tour means that exhibitors and visitors can tour the venue from the convenience of an office, sometimes located thousands of miles away. With the show as large as World Travel Market, offering visitors the chance to revisit the halls at a later date offers fantastic value for visitors and exhibitors alike.”
