The World Travel Awards (WTA) Reception Ceremony for 2014 was held at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi India on the evening of October 10th, with Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd receiving high recognition by industry judges and passengers and awarded with “Asia’s Leading Airline Business Class” at the event.

At last year’s WTA, Hainan Airlines had received the award of World’s and Asia’s Leading Airline Economy Class, a distinction that has served as a predecessor to this year’s award. WTA president and founder Graham E. Cooke had sent his congratulations to Hainan Airlines.

Hainan Airlines brand communications head Po Tan attended the ceremony and said, “We are very grateful for the support and trust of the judges and travelers. Guided by the objective of being ‘a world-class airlines with oriental beauty’ and with our distinct Eastern hospitality, we will continue to provide passengers with our five-star level of service and a most comfortable and safe flight experience.”

In April of this year, Hainan Airlines had successfully been shortlisted for 3 awards at the Asian level: Leading Airlines, Leading Business Class, and Leading Economy Class. Other well-known airlines including Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Air China, China Airlines, Air India had also made it into the shortlist for “Asia’s Leading Airline Business Class.” In the end, Hainan Airlines prevailed and collected the award.

Hainan Airlines cabin service director said that the airlines’ newly-designed service concept “Oriental Beauty” has incorporated the best practices from a long tradition of Oriental hospitality into every on-board moment, imparting the essence of “virtue, elegance, wisdom and harmony” to passengers and allowing passengers to feel the characteristically Chinese personalized service and an international flight experience at same time. Industry judges and travelers have confirmed their recognition of the airline’s achievements through the award.

World Travel Awards (WTA) was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Votes are cast globally by industry professionals in the tourism, sightseeing and aviation sectors for dozens of awards. WTA is often referred to as “the Oscars of the travel industry,” while winning a World Travel Award has become one of the highest accolades a travel product or service can receive in the travel and hospitality industries.
