SANA'A (TVLW) - Minister of Tourism Nabil al-Faqih has revealed that its ministry would refer to the Cabinet in the coming period an amendment draft to the tourism law to meet with the
government's trends to improve the tourist sector in the country.

Al-Faqih told the state-run 26sep.net that the draft comes within the ministry's plans for carrying out a bunch of amendments concerning its bylaws, tourist work guidelines, tourism promotion means and tourist exhibitions and festivals.

Meanwhile, the minister hailed the resolution of merging the General Tourism Development Authority with the Tourism Ministry, stressing that the merger would assist in underpinning the institutional
structure of the tourist sector and in achieving its desirable goals.

He noted that 2008 would be an excellent tourist year, particularly after the cabinet's approval to 15 resolutions related to advancing the tourist service base at the outlets and the establishment of the
Emergency Unit for the tourism sector in addition to other procedures aiming at progressing the performance of this vital sector.
