NEW YORK, NY – American Express Global Business Travel (“GBT”) today announced the appointment of Eric Bock as Chief Legal Officer. Eric, who joins from Travelport, will oversee GBT’s legal and government affairs worldwide.

“Eric is a unique talent in the legal field with significant experience in the travel industry and also across many transactions relating to the public and private offerings of equity and debt, mergers and acquisition and general corporate matters,” said Bill Glenn, President and CEO of American Express Global Business Travel. “He brings a deep understanding of industry dynamics and a strong commitment to customers and partners. Eric’s experience will be a critical asset for our overall growth strategy.”

Mr. Bock previously served as Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelport Worldwide Limited, one of the leading travel commerce platforms for the global travel and tourism industry. In this role, he played an integral part in developing and implementing Travelport’s strategic plans, including their recent announcement of an IPO for the company and a host of mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to his experience at Travelport, Mr. Bock was Executive Vice President, Law and Corporate Secretary for Cendant Corporation, overseeing the company’s legal practice groups in corporate including mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate finance and governance matters as well as the travel distribution services and marketing services business units. He played a critical role in the growth and restructuring of Cendant, managing the legal aspects of key acquisitions and divestitures as well as the subsequent realignment of Cendant’s 22 businesses into four companies, Travelport, Realogy, Wyndham Worldwide and Avis Budget Group.

Mr. Bock was recognized as a leading lawyer in the travel industry by the National Law Journal in 2009 and one of the leading corporate in-house counsels in America by Corporate Counsel Magazine in 2005. He was also among the honorees for top in-house corporate counsel at the New York County Lawyers Association’s Centennial Event in 2008. Mr. Bock is a graduate of Lafayette College and Fordham University School of Law.
