The ongoing strike by Air France airline workers is now spreading to Vietnam Airlines. The Vietnam flag carrier was forced to cancel many codeshare flights with Air France from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Paris this month as the latter’s pilots are going on strike.

A statement from Vietnam’s national carrier said Air France has had to ground a series of flights, including those marketed by Vietnam Airlines, since the strike started on September 15 and has been stretching on, news website Dan Tri reported.

More than Vietnam Airlines 1,000 customers were affected, it said.
Nine flights from Paris to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa were cancelled between September 16 and September 28. Another flight from HCMC to Paris on September 21 was delayed for 24 hours.

The Vietnam carrier said they are keeping touch with Air France on the strike updates so they can work out alternative plans if necessary.
Pilots at Franco-Dutch airline Air France-KLM started going on strike as they opposed plans to cut costs by the French arm of the business.
The strike was extended into the longest in Air France history after the government and the airline on Saturday rejected a request from the pilot’s union for a mediator.

The turbulence is costing Air France-KLM about $25 million a day, according to the Huffington Post.
