On September 23, the Venezuelan Association of Airlines published a report detailing the reduction in both frequencies and seats of all international airlines flying from and to Venezuela. Only Ecuadorian airline TAME has not reduced its operations in Venezuela. Overall reduction in frequencies and seats ranges between 9% and 81%.

In that context, the Venezuelan Minister of Economy, Rodolfo Marco Torres, held a meeting on Thursday with representatives of German airline Lufthansa. After the meeting, the minister informed via his Twitter account that the airline “underscored its commitment to normalize its activities in the country.”

Lufthansa went from offering five flights a week in 2014 to only three flights per week, which represents a 40% decline in the number of seats offered.
