Since August 2014, Google Indoor Maps technology (geolocation inside buildings) is being tested inside an airport. From now on, indoor maps of Terminals 1 and 2 at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport are available and viewable via Google Maps, the online map service of the world-leading Internet search engine.

Currently in the testing phase, this new technology guides passengers, simplifying and optimizing their movements by indicating the points of interest inside the airport: check-in counters, security checkpoints, walkways, shops and businesses, toilets and other specific services.

Both landside and airside, users can learn about and plan their itinerary through the Terminals, level by level, and locate themselves in real time by enabling geolocation on their mobile devices using the Google Maps application (available with IOS / ANDROID).

For Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur “This collaboration is integral to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport’s strategy of providing those leading figures in technological innovation who wish it, with an experimental laboratory working for the ongoing improvement of passenger flow, using innovative tools that facilitate the experience of clients at the airport.”

“Google’s vision for maps has always been to provide Web users with as much information as possible so they can find their way quickly and precisely wherever they are. We are delighted to partner with the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport to make sure all visitors find their way with no hesitation ” states Omer Sommerich, Product Manager at Google.
