A good portion of the Seychelles greatest wealth comes from its tourism industry, dubbed as the pillar of the economy.

A good portion of the Seychelles greatest wealth comes from its tourism industry, dubbed as the pillar of the economy.

Their sun, sea, sand, smiles of its people, its unique culture, and the unexplainably beautiful flora and fauna all contribute greatly to making their tourism industry triumph.

This week, the tourism industry of Seychelles will celebrate its achievements and embrace the work being done by all to keep it as the strong pillar of the economy.

The Seychelles Tourism Board will mark this through its Tourism Week from September 27 to October 1, under the theme โ€œTourism: Our communitiesโ€™ greatest wealth.โ€

The local theme has been derived from the international theme โ€“ โ€œTourism and Community Development.โ€

A week of activities will be organized by the Tourism Board in collaboration with its partners.

The Grand Seychelles Ball on September 27 at Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay is the event chosen to launch Tourism Week.

This will be a time for trade partners to interact and establish new contacts and boost working bonds in a more relaxed soirรฉe of which sheer elegance will grace this red carpet evening.

Partners of the tourism industry as well as long-serving employees of the Tourism Board will also be rewarded for their devotion and hard work.

A special mass will be held at Saint Theresaโ€™s Church at Plaisance on September 28 at 9:00 am, an event which blends well with the international theme, bringing the community closer to the tourism industry.

In line with their local theme, various partners have also joined the tourism board to show their commitment towards ensuring a clean environment, which is a vital key aspect in keeping the tourism industry going.

Litter bins will be donated to selected secondary schools on Mahe during a short ceremony to be held at the English River secondary school on September 29.

The Tourism Board has this year, like in previous ones, ensured that visitors will receive a special welcome at the International Airport with well-known artist, David Scholastique, giving them a true taste of Creole vibes and charm.

The famous Bazar Labrin at Beau Vallon will also be special for the week, set for October 1, where the closing ceremony of Tourism Week will be held. This Special Bazar Labrin is being organized in collaboration with the Beau Vallon district administration.

The young school children also have a part to play in Tourism Week, with the schools being encouraged to take part in the essay, poem, and poster competitions running under the local theme.

Winners of these competitions will be rewarded during a prize-giving ceremony at the National Cultural Centre on October 1.

The last activity will be the sunset cruise in close partnership with Masonโ€™s Travel, offering partners and the public a chance to join in a more relaxing ambiance, and to take part in a photo contest while onboard the cruise vessel.

Hotels across the country are being called on to join in Tourism Week by hosting activities for their guests, while the Seychelles Tourism Board will be happy to insert their events in the Tourism Weekโ€™s program.

The Tourism Boardโ€™s team, led by its Deputy Chief Executive Nathalie Didon, met members of the local press to launch the Tourism Week program and theme for this year.
