Press Release: STAMFORD, CT – Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc today announced that its world-renowned Westin brand has opened its third hotel in Arlington, Virginia. The Westin Crystal City offers 220 luxurious guest rooms and extensive meeting facilities in a convenient location, just one mile from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Owned and managed by HEI Hotels & Resorts, the former Sheraton hotel underwent a $20 million renovation to reposition it as a Westin and implement the brand’s signature services and amenities designed to inspire wellbeing.

“The strategic conversion of The Westin Crystal City resulted in another great addition to the growing Westin portfolio, within close proximity of both the airport and leading area attractions,” said Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader for Westin Hotels & Resorts and Le Méridien Hotels. “At this freshly renovated hotel, guests can revitalize and recharge with the help of all the Westin brand’s signature programs and amenities, designed to send them home feeling better than when they arrived.”

Located at the heart of Crystal City, Arlington’s largest downtown neighborhood and a vibrant business and retail center, the hotel is just steps from the Crystal City Metro station and the Crystal City Shops. The Westin Crystal City is just minutes from leading Washington, D.C. attractions such as the National Mall monuments, The White House, the Smithsonian Museums, and historic Georgetown. Guests will also enjoy easy access to Old Town Alexandria, Verizon Center, Nationals Park, FedEx Field and numerous businesses including IBM, Northrup Grumman and Boeing.

An ideal choice for business meetings and social functions of all sizes, The Westin Crystal City boasts 16,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting facilities, including 11 meeting rooms. Guests will enjoy Mediterranean cuisine and cocktails at the hotel’s newly refurbished Nutrio Restaurant and Bar, located adjacent to the redesigned lobby. The hotel also offers the Westin brand’s signature SuperFoodsRX®menu, which includes nutrient-rich and delicious options to tempt every palate. Additional facilities include a WestinWORKOUT® studio and a 24-hour business center.

“We are thrilled to reposition this ideally located hotel as a Westin and expect to attract both business and leisure travelers with the brand’s distinctive wellness positioning and innovative brand-led programming,” said Anthony Rutledge, Chief Executive Officer, HEI Hotels & Resorts. “The Westin brand is a great fit for Crystal City and will help meet the demand for high-caliber lodging in this thriving business and retail center, just minutes from the nation’s capital.”
