LIMA, Peru (eTN) – Day one of the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC) Summit, themed “Facing Challenges Finding Opportunities,” wrapped up today and will continue tomorrow, September 11, 2014 in Lima, Peru, at the Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center.

Nick Ross moderated the second session at the WTTC Americas Summit focusing on Brand USA and travel to the US after listening to President Obama saying tourism is the most important export.

On the first panel of the afternoon session of day one was Isabel Hill, Director, National Travel & Tourism Office, United States Department of Commerce; Brian Rothery, Assistant Vice President of Government & Public Affairs, Enterprise Holdings, Inc.; Chris Thompson, President & CEO, Brand USA.

The next panel welcomed the Honorable Magali Silva Velarde-Alvarez, Minister of Foreign Commerce and Tourism, Government of Peru; Carlos Vogeler, Director, Executive Secretary Members Relations and Regional Director for the Americas, World Tourism Organization (UNWTO); Hugh Riley, Secretary General, Caribbean Tourism Organization; and Ricardo Ferreira, Vice President, Alatur.

Next up via video message was former US President Bill Clinton on Haiti and its recovery, followed by a discussion, and ending day one of the summit.
