Romanian authorities want to promote the country as a safe destination.

Romanian authorities want to promote the country as a safe destination. The idea came to the Minister Delegate for Tourism Florin Jianu, who noticed that the cruise ships on the Black Sea no longer stop in troubled Ukraineโ€™s Odessa, but rather in Constanta at the Romanian seaside, according to Digi24.

The minister wants to promote Romaniaโ€™s safety as a means to attract more foreign tourists. In previous years, the countryโ€™s tourism promotion campaigns focused on Romaniaโ€™s every surprising, eternal and fascinating features, and highlighted Draculaโ€™s castle and the Carpathian Garden.

However, the number of tourists stayed around the 1.7 million mark a year, despite the over EUR 10 million invested in large tourism campaigns in the last 20 years. The Romanian Government will allot several tens of millions of euros of EU funding in the next 12 months to promote Romania abroad.
