The Taiwan Tourism Bureau (TTB) in New York has announced that it will be joining the 25th Annual NYC Century Bike Tour on September 7 to promote the trendy Taiwan cycling tours as well as the Taiwan Cycling Festival that will be held from November 8 to 16.

A released from TTB stated: “The annual NYC Century Bike Tour is considered as one of the most prominent Summer events in New York City. Participants may choose between Central Park or Prospect Park as their starting locations and challenge four different routes – The East River Loop (35 miles), The Waterfront (55 miles) , The Rockaways (75 miles), or the NYC Century (100 miles). All of these routes travel through famous NYC sceneries and landmarks such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan skylines and other historic streets in New York. More than 6,000 cycling enthusiasts are expected to participate in the event.”

TTB also said it will have a “customized promotional booth at the Central Park Finish Festival to introduce the Taiwan LOHAS spirit and its internationally renowned bike routes to New York cyclists. Participants will get to experience Taiwan through entertaining and engaging booth activities on top of exciting cultural dance performances.”

Thomas Chang, Director of Taiwan Tourism Bureau in New York, said bike routes in Taiwan are internationally well-recognized. “There are more than 80 dedicated bike routes that cover over 3,000 miles winding through cities and countryside in Taiwan. Round-island cycling and bicycle tourism have also become very popular. With the outstanding facilities of rest stops, service stores for repairs and tune-ups all across the island, Taiwan is truly an ideal place for cycling enthusiasts worldwide to experience bicycle tourism.”

TTB claims that “bike trails in Taiwan are also known for their beautiful sceneries; CNNGo even named Sun Moon Lake area as one of the world’s 10 most breathtaking cycling routes, where the internationally renowned Taiwan Cycling Festival takes place annually.”

Moreover, “the grueling 105-kilometer Taiwan KOM (King of the Mountain) Challenge takes cyclists through mountains with an 87-km ascent through the magnificent Toroko Gorge to Wuling, a peak of which rises to an elevation of 3,275 meters. It has earned a place on the list of the world’s 10 toughest by the French magazine “Le Cycle,” and was named one of the top 6 mountain bike routes on the planet by SBS Australia.”

TTB said its booth at the Central Park Finish Festival will “bring you a fun-filled experience with the “Time for Taiwan” themed elements – LOHAS and Eco-Tourism. There will be cultural dance performances by the popular Third Techno Princes as well as a “Taiwan Cycling Festival Buzzer Game” featuring Taiwan’s round-island bike route. The game challenges participants’ dexterity and patience as if experiencing the diversity of the bike routes first hand. Limited edition sports water bottles with Taiwan Tourism mascot Mr. Oh!Bear’s logo and other Taiwan Tourism premiums give away will be distributed to participating New York cycling enthusiasts.”

The tourism bureau also said it will announce their sweepstake lucky winners from the NYC Century Bike Tour registration drive. “Co-sponsored by Taiwan Tourism Bureau, China Airlines and EVA Airways, the amazing prizes are two Taiwan Bike Tour packages including round trip flight tickets, accommodations with meals, ground transportation, an English tour guide and various bike riding experiences.”
