Jovago.com signed up its 1,000th property in Kenya with their African portfolio now standing at over 8,500 hotels, resorts and lodges available for direct bookings.

Currently operating in 16 African countries, the Head of Marketing Tom Putnam commented that the company prides itself in helping realize the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) projections of a 5% increase in tourism numbers for the year 2014, as in his words “more than 59% of hotel bookings are now done online; travelers and tourists want to research, compare and buy their accommodation without the hassle of numerous phone calls or trips to agency, we are bridging that gap.”

The company works closely with hundreds of local travel agencies in strategic partnerships aimed at servicing both inbound and outbound travel. Added Tom: “Being a locally-based company places us at vantage point as partners in touring and discovering Kenya and Africa in large.”

Launched in July 2013, the company’s Nairobi office serves the Eastern Africa Region, while the Lagos, Nigeria-based office serves both Nigeria and Ghana. Countries with online presence on the company’s website, www.jovago.com within the wider Eastern African region include Uganda, Tanzania/Zanzibar, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Djibouti but also Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

Tourism services, made in Africa, for Africa, and beyond.
