Holland’s largest bus company, Oad Bus BV has been appointed as the official logistics partner for Liberation Route Europe, the recently launched tourism and educational project that tracks the route taken by the western Allied Forces as they advanced through France, Holland and Germany at the end of World War Two.

Oad Bus, is also a full-service Destination Management Company for mainland Europe and, in partnership with Holland’s Liberation Museum 1944-1945, the Airborne Museum ‘Hartenstein’ and the Gelderland Regional Tourist Board, it has developed a range of special ‘Liberation Route Europe’ itineraries in the Netherlands, designed specifically for the UK, American and Canadian ‘battlefield tours’ market.

These tours also take in visits to the historic city of Arnhem, just a few miles from the border between Germany and Holland and scene of the famous, but ill-starred, battle for the ‘Bridge Too far’ and other nearby WW2 battlefield sites and military cemeteries.

Ronald Hijmans, Special Promotions Manager for Oad Bus B. V. says, “We have 60 coaches in Holland and because we are both a Bus Operator and a Destination Management Company, we can provide Coach Operators and Group Tour Operators in the UK with a ‘one-stop-shop’ for their WW2 battlefield site tourism projects, including bespoke itineraries, transportation, accommodation, meals and local guides.

“We also balance the military aspect of these itineraries with visits to local cultural and tourist attractions such as the Gardens of Appeltern, the Van Gogh Collection at the Kröller-Müller Museum and the stunning Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn.

“Finally, we have also commissioned a flagship luxury coach, called ‘Lady Liberty’ (pictured) to service these routes.” concludes Ronald. “Our UK Representative, Philip Cooke, is based in Gloucestershire and can be contacted on 01452 500663 for further detailed information and suggested itineraries.”
