US travel to overseas markets totaled 2.43 million, up 10 percent in April and up five percent for the year. Regional results were:

Europe, 868,000 travelers, up seven percent

US travel to overseas markets totaled 2.43 million, up 10 percent in April and up five percent for the year. Regional results were:

Europe, 868,000 travelers, up seven percent
Caribbean, 630,000 travelers, up 16 percent
Asia, 382,000 travelers, up eight percent
Central America, 214,000 travelers, up 19 percent
Middle East, 142,000 travelers, up 19 percent
South America, 123,000 travelers, down one percent
Oceania, 41,000 travelers, up two percent
Africa, 28,000 travelers, up nine percent

US travel to other North American markets totaled 2.75 million, up 25 percent compared to April 2013.

Mexico, 2.04 million U.S. travelers, up 27 percent; air travel (583,000) was up 18 percent. U.S. to Mexican border traffic (within 40 kilometers) up 41 percent

Canada, 713,000 travelers, up10 percent; air travel (260,000) was up eight percent
Travel to Canada and Mexico was up 14 percent for the year.

April 2013 YTD Market Share

U.S. travel to overseas locations accounted for 46 percent of U.S. outbound international travel.

Europe, a 14 percent share;
Caribbean, a 12 percent share;
Asia, an eight percent share;
Central America, a five percent share;
South America, a three percent share;
Middle East, a three percent share;
Oceania, a one percent share, and
Africa, almost a one percent share
North American markets received 54 percent of all U.S. international outbound travel.

U.S. travel to Mexico a 42 percent share; and
Canada a 12 percent share.
