The Internet of Things (IoT) China 2014 Conference as well as China Connected Vehicle and ITS Expo and Forum 2014 will be held at Shanghai Mart on October 28th and 29th, 2014. The event is the result of a collaboration between EU-China IoT Summit, one of influential events in the industry, and the 5th Internet of Things China.

The “Internet of Things, Smart Life”-themed event is a roll up of several sessions covering a multitude of topics including smart transportation, healthcare and agriculture based on a framework of developing a smart city as advocated by Shanghai’s municipal government. This year’s event with a focus on smart transportation invites a number of well-known complete vehicle makers, telecom operators and software and hardware providers to display their cutting-edge products and technologies based on a smart city model. The event will give each of the leaders in their respective fields an opportunity to demonstrate their latest concepts by providing visitors with an excellent interactive experience.

The EU-China IoT Summit is hosted by IERC, which selected the host city from among three candidates: Shanghai, Chengdu and Beijing. Shanghai was selected as Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. caught IERC’s eye due to its influential place in the industry and its recognized strength in hosting international IoT conferences.

IERC is an IoT research organization sponsored by the EU. At this year’s event, IERC will introduce several sponsored projects sponsored under the 7th Framework Programme, for which players in China’s IoT industry will compete. The 7th Framework Programme (FP7) is a global science and technology development plan with the most investment in the EU. The European Commission initiated the 7th Framework Programme (2007-2013), also known as FP7, on January 1, 2007, with a total budget of 50.521 billion euros. FP7, a high-investment project covering a wide range of research topics and with a number of countries participating, is the world’s largest official science and technology cooperation project, and focuses mainly on cutting-edge research and difficulties faced by IT companies when dealing with competition at an international level.

Several senior officials from the European Union will attend the EU-China IoT Summit. The two principal themes of the summit are Global Challenges for IoT, and the Innovative IoT Development Platform. The four themed industry events of the conference are Internet of Vehicles, Smart Agriculture/Food Security, Smart Medicine and Smart City/Cutting-edge Technology, with each event lasting about one hour. EU-appointed subject matter experts will engage in parallel sessions where they will give topical lectures and host interactive communications sessions. Shanghai International Exhibition Co., Ltd. is also hosting EU-China IoT Business Matching Exchanges, inviting IoT companies from the four corners of the world to engage in lively discussions and develop relationships with European IoT companies and their research and development staff.
