Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) provided clarification on the rumor that 200 pilots have resigned at one time is untrue.

First Lieutenant Athisak Padchuenjai, THAI Executive Vice President of Operations Department, said that news that 200 pilots have resigned is not true and stated that THAIโ€™s Operations Department has not received letters of resignation from 200 pilots, as reported by various media.

It may be accurately stated that each year there are pilots who express their intent to resign from the Company, which is considered normal practice and does not impact the Companyโ€™s flight operations.

Currently, THAI has 1,350 pilots (as of August 2014), all of whom have been through high standard international training and follow strict operating procedures. THAI also has a well-established pilot program plan for devising its annual recruitment of new pilots. THAI recognizes that at the present time there is a high demand for trained commercial pilots which may be the cause of such rumors and interest from the media.
