The Dominican Academy of Gastronomy and Tourism was constituted on August 18, 2014, as a non-profitable institution aimed at showing and preserving the gastronomic traditions of the country, as well as national and internationally spreading its finest values, thus supporting the promotion of the countryโs brand.
The initiative of creating the Academy has been sponsored by boldface names from the business, public and cultural spheres of the Dominican Republic that are going to ask for its joining the Iberian-American Academy of Gastronomy, chaired by Mr. Rafael Ansรณn, who is also the president of the Royal Spanish Academy of Gastronomy and honorable president of the International Gastronomy Academy, which was represented in this ceremony by the Secretary General and ambassador respectively Mr. Alfonso Marรญn Caffarena and Mr. Josรฉ Carlos de Santiago.
