Tourists in North Carolina had a different experience tonight. Travelers in Raleigh, North Carolina, had to deal with severe weather, including flooding and lightning, causing an emergency evacuation this evening. 15 people reportedly were rescued by boat from the flooded Capital Inn Motel in Raleigh, NC; 25 from the Milner Inn; and 6 people inside the Foxy Lady Cigar Bar and Nightclub also had to be evacuated.
Flooding, power outages, downed trees and water rescues were reported across the Triangle Tuesday night as severe thunderstorms pounded the region with more than three inches of rain.
“If you’re in Raleigh, don’t even go outside for the next hour and a half,” WRAL meteorologist Mike Maze said at about 8 p.m. “The lightning is too dangerous.”
