INDIA (eTN) – The aviation scene in India is set to get more exciting from October this year, when the festive season starts and the new Tata-SIA joint venture airline, VISTARA, is expected to take off.

Vistara, which means expanse, promises to offer personalized services, top brass of the new venture said in New Delhi on August 11 at the launch of the brand.

The full-service, luxury airline hopes to start with five A 320s and increase the fleet to 20 planes in 5 years. The line will be initially domestic, but the management team hopes to go international once the rule of 5 years, 20 planes is repealed.

The birth of the Vistara is sure to change the scene as was indicated by Jet Airways disbanding its Jet Konnect brand.

To start with, Vistara in the first year flew to 9 cities from Delhi, its base, to Goa, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Ahemadabad, Srinagar, and Patna, with 87 weekly flights.

In the 4th year, the flight number will touch 300 per week.

The Tatas, pioneers in aviation, have a 51 percent stake, and the rest is with SIA.

Investment to start with is 100 million dollars.
