The fact that Kenya still has what it takes was further underscored when Global Ecosphere Retreats (GER) announced the inclusion of the acclaimed “Campi Ya Kanzi” which is located in the pristine wilderness area of the Chyulu Hills.

GER pays particular attention to the 4Cs criteria, where conservation, community, culture and commerce are given equal attention to ensure long-term sustainability.

GER is part of The Long Run initiative, which was launched 5 years ago by the Zeitz Foundation, and certification is awarded after rigorous audits to such enterprises which directly manage or significantly influence the management of a natural area of conservation value with defined geographical boundaries. These businesses must demonstrate their ability and commitment to achieve sustainability through the 4Cs (conservation, community, culture and commerce) by pursuing a range of environmental goals such as biodiversity conservation or forest restoration.

In addition, Cottars 1920 Camp was also named last week alongside Campi Ya Kanzi to join the Segera Retreat which is located near Nanyuki in central Kenya, making it 3 such properties for the country.
