Effective August 4, 2014, RwandAir will commence flights between Entebbe and Juba in South Sudan, following the recently granted 5th freedom traffic rights from Uganda to South Sudan by the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
RwandAir will operate daily flights with a CRJ-900 and Boeing 737-700 aircraft with a two class service, business and economy.
โWe are delighted to further strengthen our regional operations with todayโs increase of frequency from Uganda to South Sudan and we hope this will serve as a key link for business and trade between the two countriesโ commented Mr. John Mirenge, RwandAirโs Chief Executive Officer.
Flights will depart Entebbe at 07.00 hrs every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, arriving in Juba at 08.00 hrs and return from Juba at 08.55 hrs arriving Entebbe at 10.05 hrs. On Wednesday, Friday and Sunday will flights depart Entebbe at 15.35 hrs arriving in Juba at 16.45 hrs and return from Juba at 17.30 hrs to arrive back in Entebbe at 18.40 hrs.
Mr. Jean Paul Nyirubutama, RwandAirโs Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer added that, โThis new schedule, in addition to connecting Juba to Entebbe, will also provide it with seamless connections to the entire RwandAir network and in particular to Kigali, Johannesburg, Nairobi, Lagos, Accra, Dar es Salaam and Dubaiโ.
While travelers and travel agents broadly welcomed this development, many angry comments have also been received directed against the Ugandan Civil Aviation Authority for โthe shame of selling out Ugandaโs own airlineโ.
