Auric Air, one of Tanzania’s leading private airlines, has just announced the addition of more flights to key tourism areas of the country.

Effective August 7 Auric will fly four times a day from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar’s main island of Unguja, three times to the sister island of Pemba and twice daily to Tanga.

Not much needs to be said about visits to Zanzibar, as the ‘Spice Island’ has become a leading destination for tourists from around the world, but Tanga deserves a word or two.

Nearby is the marine national park created some years ago, where the Coelacanth, a prehistoric fish only found in a few locations around the globe, can often be observed and as the park is under mortal threat through harebrained schemes to build a port in the shallow bay, now would be as good a time as any to come to Tanga and visit, while there still is a habitat for this highly endangered fish species.

Auric operates a uniform fleet of newly acquired Cessna C208B Grand Caravan aircraft and connects passengers extensively across the sprawling country, East Africa’s largest in geographical terms.
