HOI AN, Vietnam — The Nam Hai has appointed a new executive assistant manager, hiring Florian Leven to fill the vacancy left by Walter Hess, who moves to Bali to become the first general manager of the soon-to-open Chedi Club Jimbaran Bali, another GHM-managed property.

Leven’s post at The Nam Hai comes after a six-year stint in Hawaii, where he served in a variety of roles at Mauni Lani Bay Hotel and Bungalows and then at Kahala Hotel & Resort, most recently as director of front office.

Leven’s hospitality career dates to 1998, when the German broke into the industry as an apprentice for two years at the Elysee Hotel in Hamburg.

He went on to work for the Zurich Marriott Hotel and Badrutt’s Palace Hotel in Switzerland before earning his Masters in Hospitality & Tourism from Johnson & Wales University in the U.S.

Leven also holds a certificate in Hotel Revenue Management from Cornell University.
