BANGKOK, Thailand- Thirayuth Chirathivat, chief executive officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts, has announced the appointment of Peter Nilsson as general manager of Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin.

Peter is a Swedish national and holds a certificate in the General Manager Program from Cornell-Nanyang University of Hospitality Management in Singapore.

He has had 28 years of experience in the hospitality industry and has worked with many leading hotels in various management roles, including the Reso Hotel Olympia and Marco Polo Nevskij Palace Hotel in Russia, and Hotel Equatorial Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Peter has been general manager of prestigious resorts like Soneva Resorts by Six Senses in the Maldives, Koh Kood and Samui, as well as Anantara Resort & Spa Phuket. Peter previously worked with Centara Hotels & Resorts during 1997 to 2004 in the role of executive assistant manager with Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui before being promoted to be general manager of Centara Villas Samui. Prior to being appointed as general manager of Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin, Peter was general manager of Conrad Maldives Rangali Island.

The five-star Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas is regarded as one of the classic hotels of Asia. Opened in 1923 as the Railway Hotel, it has in recent years been extended and upgraded with every sensitivity towards its origins, and is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel stands in 16 hectares of gardens in the center of town and is set directly on Hua Hin beach.
