LONDON, England – International Consolidated Airlines Group SA said Friday that its Spanish airline Iberia has informed employees and trade unions it plans to start a consultation period for a redundancy process involving up to 1,581 jobs.
The company said that this has been discussed as an option as part of negotiations with the airline’s unions last April. The redundancy process is a continuation of Iberia’s plan to bring in permanent structural changes to allow profitable growth in the future, it said.
Shares in International Consolidated Airlines, which also is the parent of British Airways, were trading up 0.5% at 333.40 pence Friday afternoon.
