The newly-elected Executive Board of the Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kate Carolus as Executive Director to head the Secretariat of the SHTA. The strengthening of the Association’s Secretariat was the first of a number of measures taken in response to their members’ request at the Association’s recent Annual General Meeting (AGM), to become more effective and dynamic, to be close to its members, and to help the board and the association achieve its set objectives and goals in support of its members’ aspirations.

By this appointment, the SHTA has won the services of a respected and knowledgeable Seychelloise tourism and marketing professional of long standing. Ms. Carolus has both domestic and international experience with an extensive network of contacts in the tourism industry. After her studies in Seychelles and Edinburgh, Ms. Carolus joined the Seychelles Tourism Board in the early eighties, and headed the Marketing and International Relations portfolio at the Ministry of Tourism in 1986 before joining the private sector as Marketing Manager of Travel Services (Seychelles) in 1991. Thereafter she moved to Dubai to join Emirates Destination & Leisure Management team and rose to management within Arabian Adventures with responsibility for regional product development, business development, and marketing.

On her return to Seychelles, she worked at Denis Private Island and Indian Ocean Lodge in 2007 in a sales and marketing capacity before launching a marketing and tourism consultancy in 2011. A member of the SHTA since 2012, and having served as Interim Secretary on the SHTA’s Executive Board in a voluntary capacity, Ms. Carolus has the understanding of the issues faced by its members and possesses the executive skills to help the board and the association achieve its set goals in support of its members’ aspirations. She is supported by Secretariat team members Miss Louise Ah-Koon and Miss Damienne Sophola.

Ms. Carolus’ first task was supporting the Executive Committee in crafting the SHTA’s agenda for the first High-Level Multi-Sectorial on behalf of the Association’s membership.
