WASHINGTON, DC – Qatar Airways proudly partnered with Washingtonian Magazine for their annual “AT&T Best Of Washington” event for the 2nd straight year, on July 16th.

WASHINGTON, DC – Qatar Airways proudly partnered with Washingtonian Magazine for their annual “AT&T Best Of Washington” event for the 2nd straight year, on July 16th. The annual event features the best of the district’s food and beverage selections, voted on by Washingtonian readers.

After last year’s success, the airline brought back their popular “Qatar Airways Lounge.” Following this year’s Alice in Wonderland theme, the lounge featured costumed acrobats, musicians, and dancers performing choreographed routines throughout the evening. Guests relaxed in Qatar Airways’ “World’s Best Business Class” seats, which convert into fully flat beds, and sampled over 1,000 inflight on-demand entertainment options.

“We were thrilled to take part in a wonderful celebration honoring the best that Washington, DC has to offer,” said Ihab Sorial, Vice President of the Americas. “Washington is home to our Americas Corporate Office and we have developed strong ties to the local community during our time here.”

Inspired by their 144 global destinations, Qatar Airways’ “World Culinary Menu” was designed by celebrity chefs Nobu Matsuhisa, Tom Aikens, Vineet Bhatia, and Ramzi Choueiri, who have a combined 5 Michelin Stars between them. The airline also works with Master of Wine James Cluer to curate a wine selection specifically for high-altitude consumption.

“The food and drinks we serve onboard are an important part of creating a 5-star flying experience,” said Mr. Sorial. “But just as important are our best-in-class Business Class seats, designer Ferragamo amenity kits, and a large selection of on-demand entertainment options through each customer’s personal touchscreen LCD TV. We wanted to offer the guests at Best Of Washington the chance to experience our World’s Best Business Class product.”

In addition to the Business Class Experience and Lounge, Qatar Airways gave away branded Fitbitsยฎ in the VIP area to promote the airline’s Fly Healthy, Fly Fit program.

Qatar Airways has been continually recognized for its service since commencing operations in 1994. The airline was awarded three accolades at Skytrax Awards 2014: World’s Best Business Class, Best Middle East Airline, and Best Business Class Lounge. They have also been named Airline of the Year by Skytrax, Air Transport News, and Business Aviation, and they won Best Business Class and Best Airline for International Travel at the recent Business Travel Awards.

Qatar Airways currently flies to eight destinations in North America: Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Miami, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

Best Of Washington was held at the National Building Museum. A portion of ticket sales and proceeds from a silent auction were donated to the Washington-area Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
