MURUD, India – Six tourists from Mumbai drowned at Murud beach located in Raigad district on Sunday, when they ventured into the sea for swimming.

MURUD, India – Six tourists from Mumbai drowned at Murud beach located in Raigad district on Sunday, when they ventured into the sea for swimming.

The deceased are Dinesh Pawar, Rohit Jhala, Dilip Ghule, Vinod Deonar, Sanjay Pawar and Shankar. All of them were between 40-45 years and residents of Ghatla area of Chembur.

According to Raigad police, โ€œA group of 15 people had come from Mumbai to Murud for a picnic. Eight of them entered into the water for swimming, but six of them drowned, while two other survived.”

The police have recovered the bodies of all six people from the sea with the help of locals.

The bodies of the deceased were later taken to Alibaug civil hospital for post-mortem.
