TIMOTCA, in partnership with Artsonia and Teachers Discovery, has invited thousands of teachers around the globe to have their students share “PostCards From The World, My Dream of Peace” by creating small original works of art on postcards. “Postcards From The World, My Dream Of Peace celebrates the creative spirit – the essence within all of us that has the power to change the world.”

This peace-filled, world-embracing, ambitious project that has been launched by TIMOTCA, a nonprofit organization founded in 1980 to foster peace and cultural understanding through the universal language of art and to build the world’s first global Peace Monument and Cultural Center presenting the visual and performing arts of every country on earth. The original art contributed to TIMOTCA’s permanent collection by master artists officially selected to represent their respective countries – to date over 60 – is titled Art Beyond Borders.

Art Beyond Borders premiered at United Nations Headquarters under the sponsorship of UNESCO, and has been exhibited at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris and at venues across America, providing a platform to showcase our common creative spirit and quest for peace. In the words of Kofi Annan, Former Secretary-General, United Nations, “Art Beyond Borders is an exhibition with a mission that is both timeless and timely. Spreading cultural knowledge is a timeless pursuit that encourages tolerance and appreciation of those different from ourselves.”

TIMOTCA has expanded Art Beyond Borders to create many programs, including Art Beyond Borders Banner Exhibition, accompanied by a Teacher’s Guide, which has traveled to hundreds of schools and public venues across the USA, receiving praise from Governors, Mayors, teachers and visitors.

And now, taking the message of our collective hope for peace to millions around the world, TIMOTCA will premiere the world’s largest international student art competition, PostCards From The World My Dream of Peace. The competition is aimed at generating global awareness of the importance of art in our lives and in the shared experiences of the world’s young people.

A student exchange project of this magnitude has never been done before. Teachers around the world, representing over 40 countries to date, are participating in PostCards From the World. During September through December 2014, four major international airports including JFK, O’Hare, Dulles and McCarran will exhibit over 3000 selected postcards that will be viewed by millions of travelers. After the exhibitions at airports, the postcards will be exchanged with participating schools, giving students the opportunity to share “My Dream of Peace” with students around the world.

On September 21, 2014, in support of the United Nations International Day of Peace, TIMOTCA will co-host a VIP reception with the Smithsonian National Postal Museum celebrating the opening of the PostCards From The World, My Dream of Peace exhibition. Over 1000 selected Postcards will be displayed representing each of the participating countries.
