When a new B777-300ER arrives later today at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport it will be greeted like a celebrity with government representatives, members of the Kenya Airways’ board of directors, management, staff, and invited guests, all celebrating the latest addition to a growing fleet.

Kenya Airways will take formal delivery of their third B777-300ER, a 400-seat aircraft in dual-class configuration of 28 Business Class and 372 Economy Class seats. The ferry flight from the Paine Field in Everett is now underway, taking the aircraft home to Nairobi on a nonstop flight.

The airline’s planned fleet increase under the airlines strategic “Plan Mawingo” will grow the number of aircraft from its present 48 to 107 passenger aircraft plus a further 12 dedicated freighters.

The new aircraft will be mainly deployed on routes from Nairobi to China, where Kenya Airways is this year launching Shanghai and Beijing as new destinations.
