The Queen opened the new Star Alliance Airport Terminal 2 at London Heathrow International airport last week.
The terminal, known as the Queen’s Terminal, replaces the very first passenger building which was opened by the Queen in 1955.
All Star Alliance members and some other airlines including Qatar Airways are ready to start operation, some already moved services earlier this month.
Remember Heathrowโs Terminal 5 in 2008 that led to a baggage-handling glitch that cost 16 million pounds in expenses and lost revenue.
Today Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced that as Heathrow Airport Limited will conduct unplanned testing of Heathrowโs baggage systems in the new terminal 2. THAIโs planned move from Londonโs Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 to Zone A of Terminal 2 has been postponed from the initial date of 2 July until late in August 2014. Until the new move date, flights will depart as normal from Heathrow Terminal 3.
THAIโs postponed move will allow Heathrow Terminal 2โs baggage systems to be further tested to ensure that it works properly. Journey times will not be affected and the Company apologizes for any inconvenience caused.
The press release from Thai says, the Thai National Carrier looks forward to welcoming passengers to the new London Heathrow Terminal 2 in the near future.
