The final figures are in and it is safe to declare that Shanghai’s World Travel Fair 2014 was a success.

According to show organizers, there were 38,300 travel enthusiasts who attended the eleventh edition of World Travel Fair. “Onsite booking and related auction activity turnover increased 33.7% over last year, reaching 18,016,000 (RMB) in total.”

The 2014 World Travel Fair also saw a 16.5% rise in exhibiting area (over 15000m2 in total), and 570 exhibitors from 50 countries and regions were represented in the beautiful downtown set of Shanghai Exhibition Center.

“The two-day B2B World Travel Fair Professional attracted 7948 trade visitors and buyers, generated 1800 groups of matchmaking meetings,” organizers said.

As well, concurrent events of World Travel Fair 2014 have received a lot of favorable comments from professional visitors, according to show organizers.

“The 7th World Travel Fair Awards Ceremony was held in Moller Villa, 23 awards were given to outstanding brands in travel industry with the categories of air / hotel companies, travel agencies, travel services and tourist destination.

“The 8th Outbound Tourism Forum & Travel Risk Management Forum focused on the theme of ‘Smart Innovations for a World of Smart Travel’ and released the exclusive new season of ‘Report on the Outbound Tourism Market of the Three Generating Areas of China.’ For the first time together with GFK delivered Status quo and trend of global market – ‘Capturing the essence of the analog and digital travelers.’

“For this year’s “DISCOVER” (New Products Promotion), including South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Croatia, Tunisia, Seychelles, Colombia, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Indonesia , AirAsia and Taiwan Tourism Bureau etc. has displaced the new products. Seminars of Czech Tourism, Egypt and city of Kitakyushu were successfully held as well.”

The system and function of “Matchingmaking and Buyer Meets Seller” was updated to further meet the demands of exhibitors and visitors, organizers further claimed.
